Longmont's immigrant population booms
The foreign-born population of Longmont doubled over the last decade, and immigrants now account for one out of every six city residents, according to recently released data from the American Community Survey.
The city stands out among Colorado communities, many of which saw little growth or even a decline in the percentage of residents born in another country. Of cities larger than 65,000 population, Longmont saw the largest percentage increase, from 10.6 percent of the population in the 2000 Census to 17.1 percent in the latest community survey, conducted last year.
