RELEASE: 2018 COLORADO LATINO FESTIVAL
5/21/2018
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.
Boulder, CO.
IT'S COMING. Barrio E' and the Latino Chamber present the 3rd Colorado Latino Festival, their most ambitious endeavor yet, this week expanding its programming from one day to an entire week, from June 18 to June 24, 2018 in downtown Boulder, CO. The main event will take place on Sunday, June 24 at the Boulder Central Park from 11am-8pm and will feature various Latin music groups, food vendors, a car exhibit.
IT'S INVITING. This year’s festival expects nearly 20,000 guests from across Colorado and our neighboring states New Mexico, Kansas, Utah and Wyoming thanks to our partnership with media giant Telemundo. Additional media partners include El Comercio de Colorado, Latin Life Denver, KGNU, Denver Open Media and other partner sites.
IT'S SPONSORED. Main sponsors include Elevations Credit Union, the Latino Chamber, Barrio E' and Telemundo. Additional sponsors include great organizations like the City of Boulder, Delta Dental, the Colorado Minority Business Office, Boulder Visitor's Bureau, Raíces Brewing Co, the Boulder Public Library & Foundation, Zayo Group, Bellco and Leaptech Solutions. Also sponsoring are, Boulder County Healthy Youth Alliance, St Julien Hotel & Spa, BMoCA, People Ready, Out Boulder, Boulder Police, Boulder Valley Women's Health, Downtown Boulder Partnership, Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Boulder County Arts Alliance & Fwd.us.
IT'S FREE & ACTIVE. The event is free and will focus on ACTIVISM, a theme adopted this year to bring consciousness to the power of people. We are urging people to take action on environmental, civic, and social matters, to become more engaged in their communities, to seek positions on organizations that need to diversify their boards and leadership. The City of Boulder is a perfect platform for this theme since many organizations are looking to diversify. With an 8% Latino population, yet 1% presentation, Boulder is looking to make changes.
IT'S ENTERTAINING. There will be entertainment on two stages, hands-on activities, resource tables and Latin cuisine will be part of what’s being offered. Artists and vendors will be representing Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Cuba, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Chile and other Latin American countries and the U.S. The community is invited to come learn and participate in different activities for youth and adults, visit the sponsor booths and obtain information about Latino resources and organizations. Food will also be a highlight with participation from most Latin American communities selling and sampling various Latin American and Caribbean cuisines from throughout Colorado.
IT'S LOW & BOUNCY. Additional to entertainment on stages, the festival will count on jumping castles and other kids activities. Also, we will count again with the awesome participation of the Suave Car Club and their amazing Low Rider exhibit which you can take pictures with.
IT'S "EN ESPAÑOL". Telemundo will be joining us again as the festival's Spanish language television sponsor and will start airing festival TV spots in late May for which more sponsors are still encouraged to apply. We’re proud to count with Elevations Credit Union’s sponsorship to bring our audience education about community banking and the many resources available in Spanish.
IT'S SUGAR-FREE. No sugary beverages (sodas and sports drinks) will be served to continue with our commitment of a healthier event in partnership with Delta Dental. Vendors will be selling water and freshly made fruit drinks instead.
IT'S HOPPY. Raíces Brewing Co. will again be our Beer Garden sponsors with amazing additional participants such as Woods Boss Brewing and Old School Beverages. You can come and accompany our delicious Latin American food choices with tasty local craft beers and Margaritas in a Can.
IT'S PARTICIPATIVE. Businesses and organizations are encouraged to participate as vendors, sponsors or collaborators for this event. Last year the festival had 115 vendors participating. This year the festival is looking at the same number of participants and will cap at 120. Prices will increase on June 1st. Participants will be exposed to thousands of attendees from all over Colorado the day of the event, and sponsors will benefit from the extensive media attention that the festival will generate, reaching over 3+ million unique individuals thanks to our extensive media coverage.
This event also comes at a crucial time when election primaries will be happening a few days after the festival and some groups will be onsite encouraging attendees to partake in this civic duty, now open to non-affiliated voters.

WHAT IS THE COLORADO LATINO FESTIVAL?
#latinxfest is a fun family oriented event with special attractions, musical acts, cultural offerings and some of the most delicious Latin American cuisine found in Colorado. The festival attracts ongoing local and national media coverage through partners like Boulder Weekly, Latin Life Denver, Telemundo, NBC and the Associated Press.
The event celebrates the diversity and contributions of Latin American and Caribbean people in the entire continent. With over 33 nations included and hundreds of customs, culinary varieties, musical buffet and genetic makeup, Latin American and the Caribbean is as diverse as it comes. The Latino Festival is that opportunity for people of Colorado and surrounding states to come and learn about those varieties and celebrate them as one.
In 2018, #latinxfest will focus on unity since previous years proved to be though years for Latinos in the U.S.. We will be celebrating as a large family and want our attendees to know and feel supported, welcomed and included. We will be working with many local jurisdictions to enforce safety and inclusion. Our cities are a large asset and want our attendees to know that local policies will continue to be in place and or amended to make sure our residents feel part of our communities.
The Colorado Latino Festival is a joint venture by the Latino Chamber and Barrio E' to bring unity to communities.
